ON ASSIGNMENT FOR WHAT RADIO? / HERALDNET.COM
I was in Boise for a business trip and was able to arrange for a photo pass for the 2nd Treefort Music Fest in
Boise, Idaho working on assignment for What Radio?, an online music blog posted on the HeraldNet.com web page.
The opening show was being held at the El Korah Shriners Hall with Boise's Finn Riggins.
Finn Riggins performed an excellent set of original tunes, featruing Cameron Bouiss, Eric Gilbert and Lisa Simpson.
Next up was Seattle's Mt. St. Helen's Vietnam Band. I had seen them several years ago at Bumbershoot and enojyed their brand of indie rock.
Mt. St. Helen's Vietnam Band didn't disappoint, playing a tight set for the crowd on hand.
Next up was a band called Wampire, which in the festival Trail Guide, said they were from Seattle, but I came to find out they were from Portland.
Wampire played a mix of power pop and psychedelic tunes which again kept the music lovers happy campers.
Next up was a band called Foxygen. I had never heard of them before, but the young lady I was talking to told me that they were the HIT of SXSW.
Foxygen was listed as being from Los Angeles, but I learned that they originally came to LA via Olympia, WA.
The Foxygen set was fantastic, they were a mix of late 60's early 70's San Francisco / Los Angeles hippy dippy sounds.
Kinda a mix of the Jefferson Airplane hanging out with The Doors. Foxygen was truly a highlight for me.
